Detroit Lakes, Minnesota

            A special meeting of the City Council was called to order in the Council Chambers of the City Administration Building at 5:00 P.M., Monday, September 15, 2008, all members of the Council having been duly notified of the meeting and the business to be transacted.

 

 

Present:                       Mayor, Larry G. Buboltz;  City Administrator, Robert

                                    Louiseau; Finance Officier, Louis Guzek; Public Works

                                    Director, Brad Green; Jan Logan, Executive Director Lakes

                                    Crises & Resource Center

 

            Aldermen:                   Matt Brenk, Jim Anderson, Ron Zeman,

            Present                       Bruce Imholte, Walt Tollefson, David Aune, James Hannon

 

Absent:                        Aldermen: G.L. Tucker, Leonard Heltemes

 

 

            Upon recommendation of the Finance Committee, A resolution was introduced by Alderman Jim Anderson, who moved its adoption, approving of the City of Detroit Lakes Preliminary Budget for

            Calendar Year 2009 and approving the Preliminary 2009 Tax Levy.   The motion for the adoption of the resolution was seconded by Alderman Brenk and carried without a dissenting vote.  The Mayor

           declared the resolution adopted. 

 

            Pursuant to the recommendation of the Detroit Lakes Housing and Redevelopment Authority a motion was made by Alderman Matt Brenk, and seconded by Alderman Anderson and carried

           without a dissenting vote, approving the request of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority to exercise its right to levy a tax of .0144% of the property values of the City of Detroit Lakes.

 

            Upon the recommendation from the Community Development Committee and without objection Mayor Buboltz deferred action on the Encroachment Agreement with Central Market. 

           

            Pursuant to the recommendation from the Community Development Committee, a motion was made by Alderman Brenk, seconded by Alderman Zeman and carried without a dissenting vote authorizing

            the donation of City-owned land located off of 8th Street for Lakes Crisis and Resource Center, parcel number R490033022, providing sufficient funds are raised and construction of the building begins

            within two years. 


 

 

 

            There being no further business to conduct, by general consent, Mayor Buboltz adjourned the meeting (5:25 P.M.)
